The journey of Identities Beyond Borders, an exhibition project curated by Benedetta Carpi De Resmini, continues beyond Europe, reaching the East for the first time.

On 11 September 2026, the exhibition’s first non-European stop will open at the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo, organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Tokyo.

Promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Farnesina Collection, the project explores the concept of identity in the contemporary world and its transformations in relation to issues such as the environment, migration, cultural change and geopolitical developments.

After travelling through several European cities and institutions, the Tokyo exhibition marks a significant new chapter in the project, broadening the dialogue between different cultures, artistic languages and perspectives. The border thus becomes a space for encounter and exchange, capable of generating new perspectives and forms of connection.
